Job Description:

Specialist, Financial Planning and Analysis – Ceded Re

Location: London

The FP&A – Ceded Re unit is part of the central FP&A team and is responsible for providing financial analysis and support to the CFO, Ceded Re, Regional Finance, and AXA XL Leadership teams.

Working within Ceded Re FP&A, you will be responsible for providing timely, accurate, and insightful management information and financial analysis regarding ceded reinsurance results across all actual, planning, and forecasting cycles. You will also validate that management information, whether from the ledger or from AXA XL’s planning tools, is accurate. From time to time, you may need to input assumptions into the plan and correct ledger positions.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Supporting the Senior Specialist in London, responsible for regional financial analysis and the Reinsurance Segment, as well as the consolidated insurance and divisional results.
  2. Working with the Senior Manager Ceded Re FP&A to build analytic capabilities, respond to queries from the Head of FP&A and Divisional CFO, and improve BAU processes.

The above will involve:

  1. Delivering insightful analysis on the financial position and performance of ceded reinsurance for the AXA XL Division, as well as across both Insurance and Reinsurance segments.
  2. Supporting the quarterly ceded reinsurance close process for all three Insurance Regions, ensuring all material adjustments are correctly included in the financial statements.
  3. Validating plan and reforecast results, working with the wider team to ensure inputs and assumptions are correct, and inputting assumptions into planning tools when necessary.
  4. Actively identifying and developing opportunities to streamline and enhance reporting capabilities, focusing on insight and foresight rather than just facts and information.
  5. Building relationships, particularly with the Head of FP&A, to understand broader business analytical requirements and develop solutions accordingly.
  6. Working within finance teams to develop broader Business Group goals, objectives, and strategy.
  7. Supporting internal and external audits of ceded reinsurance results in the financials.
  8. Developing skills around the Anaplan tool, as Ceded Re FP&A is about to start an Anaplan project.

You will report to the Senior Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis – Ceded Re.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

  1. Significant experience working within P&C (re)insurance, with a demonstrated understanding of ceded reinsurance, insurance principles, IFRS insurance accounting concepts, and application within financial analysis. A professional accountancy qualification is a plus.
  2. Ability to navigate a global enterprise, interact confidently with all levels of the organization, articulate views, influence outcomes, and develop leverage relationships.
  3. Robust analytical skills, inquisitive attitude, attention to detail, and ability to link work results to broader business outcomes and strategies.
  4. Experience with reporting/consolidation systems and advanced Microsoft Excel and presentation skills.
  5. A proactive, self-starter, self-motivator who is adaptable in a fast-moving global environment, capable of managing time, working to deadlines, prioritizing, and adjusting to changing requirements.
