Sous Chef - Retail

Job Description

To assist with the safe supervision alongside and in the absence of the Head Chef, managing all food production, preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure the company\’s food quality standards are maintained at all times.

• Ensure food production, standards, costs, and menu planning are executed in a timely manner, as agreed with the Head Chef.
• Manage the smooth and efficient operation of the section.
• Assist the Senior Sous Chef with food orders and developing new food concepts.
• Plan, prepare, cook, and present food to the standards required by the company and clients.
• Enhance the company\’s reputation for excellent food and service among clients and customers.
• Participate actively in menu engineering alongside the Head Chef/Executive Chef.
• Maintain composure under pressure and communicate effectively with the team.
• Organize tasks efficiently and manage time effectively.
• Take ownership of tasks as directed by senior chefs.
• Inspire, motivate, and mentor junior team members.
• Promote and maintain a safe working environment.
• Possess knowledge of current food trends and seasonality.
• Assist with any reasonable requests from Heads of Department (HODs).

Qualifications

• Experience in a previous role.
• Experience in a contract catering environment.
• Ability to prioritize tasks.
• Good communication skills.
• Passion for food and innovation with new ideas.
• Strong team management skills.
