Develop detailed solar PV system designs, including electrical layouts, panel configurations, and single-line diagrams, ensuring designs align with client specifications, site conditions, and regulatory standards. Utilise design software (e.g., PVSyst, Helioscope, Trimble, AutoCAD) to model energy output, calculate yield, and optimise system performance. Design battery storage integration for hybrid systems, focusing on sizing, configuration, and operational strategy to enhance energy efficiency and storage capacity.
Technical Feasibility and Site Assessment
- Conduct technical site assessments, analysing factors such as irradiance, shading, roof or ground conditions, and structural requirements.
- Prepare feasibility studies, energy production forecasts, and technical reports for client presentations, supporting the business case for each project.
- Coordinate with Project and Sales teams to refine design solutions based on customer goals and site-specific requirements.
Regulatory Compliance and Documentation
- Ensure all designs adhere to relevant industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
- Prepare required documentation, including G99 applications and CLS forms, grid connection agreements, including CNO documentation, and planning permission submissions.
- Support the Project Team with technical input during installation and commissioning, troubleshooting any design-related issues that arise.
Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement
- Implement quality control checks to ensure accuracy and functionality of designs before project deployment.
- Stay informed about advancements in solar PV technology, battery storage, and regulatory changes, integrating best practices into the design process.
- Identify and implement improvements to the design process to increase efficiency and project quality.
Key Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years in solar PV design, ideally in commercial and industrial applications.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in design software such as PVSyst, Helioscope, Trimble and AutoCAD. Strong understanding of PV technology, energy yield modelling, and system performance optimisation. Knowledge of battery storage design and integration, as well as familiarity with grid connection standards (e.g., G99 compliance).
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to conduct feasibility analysis, identify design solutions, and optimise system efficiency.
