Job Title: Site Fitter / Shop Fitter

We are recruiting for a Site Fitter / Shop Fitter for our client in the WS10 area of the West Midlands.

Role Overview

The role involves installing machinery, kilns, furnaces, pipework, and automation systems both on-site in the UK and overseas. The candidate will liaise with customers, report issues to the line manager, and carry out small fabrications of equipment as needed, including assembly and sub-assembly of pipework, automation systems, steelwork, and portal frames based on supplied drawings and layouts. When not on-site, responsibilities include in-house fitting and fabrication at the company workshop under supervision.

Key Duties

1. Install steelwork, portal frames, machinery, kilns & furnaces, pipe, and automation systems.
2. Perform fabrication work both on-site and in-house, including arc welding.
3. Inspect workpieces for defects and measure to ensure compliance with specifications.
4. Report non-conforming materials immediately to the line manager.
5. Understand and execute assigned tasks according to instructions and specifications.
6. Maintain daily housekeeping in work areas.
7. Complete work within designated timeframes and documentation requirements.
8. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
9. Engage in workshop duties when not on-site.

Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in installation roles.
• Ability to read design drawings and plant layouts.
• Strong understanding of installation processes.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Valid and clean driving license.
• Willingness to travel and stay away from home as required.
• Experience working in confined spaces is desirable.

Certifications

• CSCS or CPA card is mandatory for site access and safety compliance.
• IPAF (preferred)
• Forklift Truck License (preferred)
• PASMA (preferred)
• Additional relevant certifications demonstrating qualification and understanding of manufacturing and installation processes are advantageous.

This position is a 40-hour workweek with occasional mandatory overtime.
