Our client is a leading packaging company who produce a range of high-end packaging for a wide variety of market sectors including confectionery, food, beverage, cosmetics, childcare and healthcare markets.

They have an exciting opportunity for a Shift Engineer to join their team. You will be proactive and seeking engineering improvement tasks around the site. Be electrically biased, but also work as a Hybrid Engineer, displaying mechanical skills. The company aims to prevent, predict, and as a last resort, react to machine breakdowns.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support to the department regarding both Breakdowns, PPM, and TPM.
  • Responsible for identifying necessary parts and equipment required for repairs and improvements.
  • Carry out both electrical and mechanical installations within skill set.
  • Make rational and informed decisions with regard to breakdown solutions and completion of individual projects.
  • Carry out Electrical and Mechanical repairs within scope of ability and requirements.
  • Execute planned and unplanned maintenance activities to an agreed standard.
  • Ensure safe working practices always and carry out reactive and preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure site assets are maintained to a high standard, meeting site requirements.
  • Achieve the engineering standards across the site by providing support and expertise.
  • Ensure a robust and clearly communicated safe system of work is applied for all activities that you undertake, properly risk assessed.
  • Ensure parts are booked out correctly to help control stock levels in stores.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team not only with the engineering team but also with production.

Requirements:

  • Familiar with current legislation and European directives as applicable to this role.
  • Self-motivated and calm under pressure with a logical approach to problem solving.
  • Flexible attitude to working schedules and thorough attention to detail in tasks.
  • Experience within a Production or Service environment – preferably Print or FMCG.
  • Demonstrable Electrical/Mechanical installation experience.
  • Capable of using PLC I/O as a diagnostic tool.
  • Good team player but capable of working on your own initiative.
