Your new company is one of the largest employers in the North West, and has a large engineering and maintenance presence across the country. They are growing rapidly and are looking to add to their team in Liverpool with a shift automation technician.
Your new role
Working on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern reporting to the Engineering Shift Manager and Senior Automation Engineer you will be responsible to deliver:
- Monitor and diagnose all automation system issues on container handling equipment.
- Assist with automation improvement programs across all assets.
- EHS objectives and performance.
- Company and operational knowledge.
What you’ll need to succeed
- High technical Automation / Controls engineering ability.
- Understand Electrical Circuit diagrams, network structures / switches, communication protocols.
- Working knowledge of IEC 61131 programming languages.
- Troubleshooting, fault finding (within PLC code / HMIs) and repair is an absolute prerequisite for this position.
- Experience of motors and variable speed controllers is desirable.
- The Automation Technician will be required to make day-to-day job-related decisions and will prioritise work in line with operational requirements.
- The Automation Technician is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate recording of information and documentation that may be used in important decision making and auditing processes. It is therefore paramount that systems, documentation and data is maintained to the highest standard.
- Implement processes and tools, provide system reports, shift handover logs.
- A dynamic and eager individual with a can-do attitude and willingness to drive change and make things happen.
- Qualification in IOSH Managing Safety is preferable.
- Qualified to a minimum HNC or equivalent qualification.
- Must hold a full UK driving licence.
