Van Elle has an exciting opportunity for two Setting Out Engineers to join our busy Housing division to start asap.

About the role
As Setting Out Engineer you will be responsible for the setting out of ground beams and piles, checking drawings, setting out information and levels, producing as-built drawings and records, liaising with customers and other contractors, monitoring of works, and quality control requirements on site in accordance with specifications, whilst working to high Health, Safety and Environmental standards. Ensuring that the construction site is ready for development.
You will be working with our Piling & Smartfoot ground beam crews using site plans, plot layouts and precision instruments to mark out piles, beams, and pile caps. As well as this you will be required to overlay drawings using AutoCAD, record as builts, and report any issues back to the operations team. A keen eye for detail and good communication skills are vital for this role, as a company we pride ourselves on our excellent customer satisfaction which will be expected of you at all times.
What you’ll do
- Setting out piles and beams on site including recording as builds and reporting any discrepancies.
- Setting out, levelling and surveying on site.
- Liaising between engineers and the construction team, to ensure plans and drawings are accurate.
- Supply reinforced concrete setting out support to construction team.
- Report site progress to engineering and survey department.
- Co-ordinating Pile/Beam layouts with site layout drawings.
- Planning and managing your own time to ensure all sites can be catered for.
- Conduct quality control checks and build records.
- Site technical support.
- Assist in the supervising of subcontractors on site setting out.
- Check quantities for accuracy of calculations.
- Liaise with subcontractors, planners, quantity surveyors and general workforce.
- Attending regular site meetings and keeping client and contracts manager informed of progress made.
- Prepare reports and assist with day to day site management.
What we’re looking for
- 2 years experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge in surveying and construction procedures.
- Structural setting out experience.
- Knowledge of and experience in reinforced concrete.
- Numeracy and the ability to make mathematical calculations.
- The ability to understand and interpret data.
- Ability to work well within a team.
- Good written and verbal communication.
- AutoCAD Experience.
- Valid CSCS card.
