Senior Technical Accountant

Job Description

Service Care Solutions is currently recruiting on behalf of a large public sector organisation in London for a Senior Technical Accountant to join on a temporary basis. The postholder will be a key figure in the accounts closure process and leading work on the year-end accounts. We are looking for a strong Closedown Accountant to ensure all work is completed to an exceptional standard.

Key Responsibilities

1. Monitor accounts to trial balance level and assist in the preparation of final accounts, including liaising with external auditors.
2. Lead the completion of the Whole of Government Accounts return, coordinating input from other officers to meet deadlines.
3. Review balance sheet requests and approve journals.
4. Assist with planning the closing of accounts timetable, guidance, and training.
5. Provide advice and guidance on closing accounts processes and financial controls.
6. Deliver working papers, analysis, and reconciliations to support Financial Statements.

Candidate Criteria

• CCAB/CIMA Qualified Accountant or equivalent
• Experience in closedown accounting within a large public sector organisation
• Experience approving monthly journals and reviewing balance sheets
• Experience managing closing of accounts timetables and advising team members
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
