Can you compile architectural specification documentation for both internal (AECOM) and external Clients, which accurately reflect the project and contractual requirements using our own specification baseline database?

A day in the life of a specification consultant at AECOM:

1. Prepare Architectural Specifications that reflect detailed project requirements.
2. Advise Clients on Design Responsibility issues and how the form of Contract and procurement route affects the Specification format/deliverables.
3. Advise Clients on material usage.
4. Coordinate Architectural Specifications with Contract Conditions/Preliminaries and Specifications prepared by other disciplines e.g. Structures and MEP.
5. Develop and keep up to date with technical standards, products and innovation as they relate to our Consultancy business.
6. Attend internal and external meetings to obtain project briefing information and provide consultancy services as necessary to prepare project-specific documentation.
7. Familiarise oneself with the Clients\’ brief and scope of our service to ensure deliverables are aligned with the project scope.
8. Maintain a working knowledge of project finances and raise potential financial issues with Line Manager/Team Lead.
9. Carry out projects in line with AECOM QA/QC and Health and Safety requirements.
10. Work collaboratively with colleagues on multiple projects under the direction of Team/Project Leader.

How will you bring your best self to work:

1. Demonstrate proficiency in the responsibilities of the role.
2. Evidence of good technical design understanding.
3. Good technical knowledge of modern construction techniques, methodologies, and standards.
4. Knowledge and understanding of UK Construction procurement methodologies and how these relate to Specification Documentation.
5. Experience in the preparation of Architectural Specifications.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English Language).
7. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and database applications; NBS Create experience is desirable.
8. Able to work logically and methodically to achieve high-quality outputs as well as being self-motivated and able to take responsibility.
9. Ability to understand and work to an agreed scope and project budget.
10. Flexible attitude to new ways and methods of working.
11. Ambitious and enthusiastic with a good understanding of the design & delivery process.
12. Good understanding of BIM.
13. NBS Chorus experience would be advantageous.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Architecture or Architectural Technology.
