Job Description:

Meraki Talent is working with a leading utilities organisation to find a Senior Regulatory & Governance Manager in this newly created role.

The purpose of this role is to lead all Regulatory, Compliance, Risk, and Legal activities for the business, ensuring regulatory compliance across all departments.

The role involves advising the Leadership team and key stakeholders on regulatory and legal obligations, establishing compliance processes, and maintaining the corporate risk management system.

The role also includes influencing the development of regulatory and market frameworks in England and Scotland, and identifying opportunities arising from regulatory changes. The incumbent will ensure the business is aware of and prepared for legislative, regulatory, and market rule changes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing relationships with regulators to influence legislative, regulatory, and market framework development.
  • Building stakeholder relationships to address common concerns.
  • Developing and maintaining an Assurance Process for compliance with Licence Conditions, Codes, Governance, Data Protection, and FOI legislation, with reporting to leadership and the Board.
  • Supporting operational teams in understanding their regulatory responsibilities.
  • Collaborating with legal counsel and external legal support to provide legal advice across the business.

Candidate requirements:

  • Experience at a senior level in a regulated environment, preferably within Utilities, Government, or regulated agencies (e.g., energy, telecoms).
  • Knowledge of Ofwat and MOSL in England, and WICS and CMA in Scotland, is desirable but not essential.
  • An understanding of the UK political and policy environment, particularly regarding water and utilities.
