We are looking to recruit a Senior Property Lawyer to join our team in St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex. This role is suitable for a person with experience in conveyancing and managing their own caseload.
Key responsibilities of a Senior Property Lawyer:
- Manage an average caseload of 50 files, covering all aspects of conveyancing transactions from instruction to completion, registration, and closure.
- Take instructions, maintain accurate file notes, communicate with clients and third parties, and complete tasks.
- Draft legal documents such as Standard Precedent Letters, Contract Packs, Title Reports, Exchange and Completion letters, general correspondence, and Land Registry and HMRC forms.
- Perform Pre-completion, Land Registry, and Conveyancing searches accurately and promptly, ensuring all paperwork and funds are in place for exchange and completion.
- Handle Post Completion tasks including applications to the Land Registry, Stamp Duty Land Tax submissions, file closures, and account ledger checks.
- Manage complex transactions such as leaseholds, shared ownership, unregistered properties, acting for companies, lease variations and extensions, and new builds.
- Identify opportunities for personal development and performance improvement.
- Assist with coaching and mentoring of Associates and Property Lawyers.

Skills and experience required:
- Qualified candidates with a Law Degree, LPC, Licensed Conveyancer, Solicitor, or Legal Executive (FCILEX) are preferred but not mandatory.
- Extensive experience managing a varied conveyancing caseload and handling complex legal transactions.
- Excellent communication, time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail is essential.
- Self-motivated, capable of working independently or as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Case Management Systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is preferred but not essential.
