Job summary
A one off opportunity to lead the structures design team on the the A303 Stonehenge upgrade. An iconic scheme on a world heritage site.

As the Structural and Bridges Principal Engineer you will be responsible for:
- Assist our clients in the conceptual design definition, helping in technical feasibility and constructability.
- Lead a team for the design process.
- Ensure appropriate coordination with the rest of the disciplines, requesting inputs and providing results to others in timely manner.
- Present the alternatives, and the design to the contractor and the client.
- Review technical documentation and identify critical defects.
- Provide guidance to modellers for the BIM model and drawing production.
- Conduct periodic site reviews to ensure construction complies with design intent and codes.
- Develop structural details and construction plans.
- Review shop drawings and field services in design and construction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is an asset.
- Minimum 15 years relevant experience in structural design and infrastructure (highways, rail, etc.) projects.
- Experience with complex construction projects involving P3, Infrastructure and/or underground LRT and subway.
- Expertise designing bridges and performing loading calculations (SAP, Midas).
- Desirable knowledge of pre-stress concrete and precast construction.
- Desirable knowledge of steel structure.
- Desirable knowledge of underground structures, geostructures (Support of Excavation, walls, invert slabs, cut-and-cover structures).
- Technical competency in the design of structural building systems.
- Knowledge and understanding of structural design software such as SAP2000 and Robot Structural Analysis is expected.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Navisworks, Bluebeam desirable.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant design standards and codes.
- Project management and coordination skills with a strong ability to provide leadership and motivation to project structural teams. You will work in a multi-disciplined team environment and will be expected to demonstrate a collaborative attitude in working with members of the Team.
- Ability to confidently relate with all levels of staff and clientele – Internal and External.
You’ll be based in London SE1 with hybrid working.
