OVERVIEW
We are looking for an experienced Senior Motion Graphic designer to join our creative team. This candidate must be highly motivated and able to create a range of high quality still and motion graphics content for use in a live fast paced TV news, digital, and commercial sales environment.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about all things design, able to design both still and animated elements with a penchant for strong conceptual thinking and a careful understanding of realistic production requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be a leader within the team with technical proficiency and a positive work attitude.
- Help oversee creative production of a variety of content, including style frames, motion/animatics, brand and marketing materials, presentations, storyboards, templates, and special campaigns.
- Have a thorough understanding of the Channel’s Brand identity, file structure practices and systems.
- Ability to employ best practice in graphic/motion design and usage.
- To conceive and design graphics elements appropriate to the Channel’s corporate image and standards.
- Deputise for Snr Creative Director and Senior/Lead Designer Creative when needed.
- Work in close collaboration with senior leadership in all areas of production, from concept through execution and delivery to problem solve and find creative graphic solutions in the short time scales of a busy news production and sales environment.
- Keep up to date with the latest software, technologies and methods of design and graphics production.
- Establish and maintain relationships with internal departments in support of their production efforts. Manage projects from concept to completion. Maintain a fresh source of creativity, rather than repetitive design.
- Provide creative direction, feedback, and guidance to colleagues as needed, including on-the-job training to all new members of the department and in-house training.
REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrate experience in creating high quality still and motion graphics for use in the live news, and commercial sales environment via show reel/online portfolio of work.
- Significant relevant experience in a broadcast creative design production environment.
- Very creative, passionate about design with an eye for detail and a self-starter attitude.
- Excellent organizational and decision-making skills, able to communicate clearly with the local team and perform assignments across locations.
- High proficiency in design layout and animation nuance with attention to typography.
- Team player, who is comfortable working autonomously and able to deliver under pressure.
- Keen, enthusiastic, and interested in maximizing the contributions of the design department to various business units.
- Proactive in generating new, fresh, and relevant ideas and concepts often in short timescales and implement last-minute feedback.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects with varied deadlines, in a fast-paced production design environment.
- Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative suite, After Effects/Premiere Essential Graphics workflows and creation of .mogrt files for use in Premiere and expressions. Experience with various plugins (i.e., Trapcode, Boris etc.).
- In-depth After Effects 3D compositing techniques needed. Knowledge of Cinema 4D advantageous.
- Knowledge of Real-time broadcast graphics systems, Viz/Chyron, advantageous. Knowledge of VFX/Greenscreen/camera tracking a plus.
- Degree level formal design qualification (desirable).
