This role is based on site in Oxford. You will be a subject matter expert (SME) for specific M&E engineering systems (mechanical, electrical, ventilation & specialist systems) while liaising with professional teams. You will provide specialist engineering expertise via the analysis of the detailed design in conjunction with various stakeholders.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Contributing within the project team, collaborating and coordinating with colleagues, and actively providing guidance and mentoring to others.
- Analysing, rectifying and managing the completion of the MEP design, using technical expertise and the business’s management processes.
- Coordinating and collaborating with project sub-contractors, sub-subcontractors and suppliers, and being accountable for programme, HSW, cost and quality deliverables of their package or system.
- Establishing and managing the interfaces between packages.
- Managing and establishing key relationships with key project stakeholders such as the client, design and construction teams.
- Actively identifying risks and managing the production and implementation of mitigation plans.
- Providing comprehensive technical expertise of modern methods of construction, developing and supporting learning about digital technologies and prefabrication.
- Contributing towards the recommendation and implementation of Mace’s standards & project strategies.
- Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and sharing responsibility for the proactive identification and management of associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
You’ll need to have:
- Advanced knowledge of an engineering specialism (i.e. mechanical) including installation techniques, best practices, engineering processes, prefabrication and single system commissioning requirements.
- Proficient knowledge of other specialisms (i.e. electrical) to ensure consideration, collaboration and coordination with other systems and packages.
- Proficient knowledge of construction build elements, sequencing and dependencies.
- Proficient knowledge of commercial management for packages, including procurement processes, change control, programme impact and cost to complete.
- A proficient knowledge of planning processes and management, with understanding of key construction release requirements and scheduling activities.
- A proficient knowledge of health, safety & welfare core elements to ensure safe management of supply chain packages.
- A proficient knowledge of quality assurance processes and commissioning of single systems.
- A proficient knowledge of digital engineering technologies or prefabrications (C2P).
You’ll also have:
- The ability to undertake rule of thumb design/basic design calculations.
- Professional registration with either CIBSE or IET.
- Understanding of strategic goals and influences across the project and business unit.
- Ability to analyse potential risks with understanding of impact and proactive prevention.
