Job Description:

The Role:
The role is in the Accounting Technical Advisory team, within Investment Accounting Services. The team is responsible for overseeing third-party suppliers related to fund accounting, including net asset values, financial reporting, and regulatory disclosures for M&Gās UK, Luxembourg, and Irish UCITs and AIFs. These funds are sold and invested globally across various asset classes.
The role involves providing technical and accounting advice for M&Gās funds and jurisdictions, supporting fund-related change activities, and acting as an SME in fund accounting. The focus is on supporting increased demand for fund launches, closures, mergers, and complex transactions, especially in private markets.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Providing fund accounting technical expertise, especially for private and alternative assets.
- Preparing accounting papers for complex transactions and new asset classes.
- Offering technical advice on BAU activities like NAV oversight and financial reporting.
- Assessing the impact of regulatory and accounting standard changes.
Supporting change initiatives such as:
- Fund and share class launches,
- Fund mergers and closures,
- New instruments and markets,
- Regulatory changes including costs and charges disclosures.
The ideal candidate would be an experienced fund accountant with knowledge in:
- Fund accounting, NAV production, and financial reporting.
- Regulatory environments in UK, Luxembourg, Ireland, and Europe.
- Product knowledge including UCITs and AIFs.
- Accounting standards like UK GAAP, IFRS, Lux GAAP.
- Instruments such as equity, debt, derivatives.
- Fund setup and project work.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Fund accounting experience, especially in private and alternative assets.
- Experience with fund setup and project work.
- Understanding of different fund structures.
- Technical knowledge of Lux GAAP, IFRS, UK FRS102.
- Attention to detail, proactive communication, and flexibility.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel.
