We are now recruiting for a Senior Commercial Manager to join us permanently on one of our project sites located near Newbury.
Scope:
As Senior Commercial Manager you will be responsible for managing and administering the head contract with the client which facilitates a range of major design, construction and decommissioning projects. You will develop and implement an effective contract and procurement management programme which ensures compliance with requirements, assurance of commercial delivery and manages procurement activities resources.
You’ll also be responsible for the administration of the prime contract, subcontracts and procurement. Be responsible for reporting cost and commercial performance of the programme and supporting the Programme Commercial Director in meeting the programme goals/objectives.
A key contact for liaising between internal and external customers/stakeholders to ensure appropriate dissemination of commercial information, guidance, continuous improvement and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Delivery of the programme commercial function in a security sensitive public sector environment
- Management of functional reports through a matrix structure
- Implement commercial systems and procedures to ensure compliance with the programme level commercial requirements
- Lead contract development and management – including management of change with the client
- Manage commercial governance process and procedures to meet project assurance requirements
- Close liaison with all Project Commercial teams and the Programme Commercial Director
- Develop and manage supply chain frameworks to ensure value and delivery excellence
- Assessing, managing and reporting programme commercial risks
- Collating and analysing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in line with programme commercial objectives
- Support the project commercial teams in the development and execution of project call-off contracts
Education/Experience:
- Ideally degree qualified in Commercial, Legal, Business, Engineering or other relevant discipline
- Chartered or equivalent
- Proven experience in a commercial delivery role and as a team leader
- Major project delivery – primary working experience as a prime contractor rather than a client-side consultant
- Experience of working collaboratively in a project/programme/client environment both internally and externally
- Experience of working in a safety and quality driven environment
- Dispute avoidance and dispute management experience
- Experience of working in the nuclear industry
- Currently hold SC or prepared to go through the SC process
- Significant experience of ERP systems and CEMAR
Additional Experience:
- Client facing/Client management experience.
- Managerial abilities and excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Demonstrated ability to establish, implement and monitor high standards of excellence in areas of quality, safety and operational performance.
- Understanding the levels of scrutiny involved in spending public money
- Familiarity with Public Contract Regulations
- Working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 suite of contracts
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Sharepoint).
