Role Overview:
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will work closely with the civils team and liaise with the consultancy’s established client base of housebuilders. The role involves a balanced mix of highway and drainage design work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Appraisals & Planning: Develop site appraisals, strategy, and conceptual layouts/master planning for drainage and highways infrastructure.
- Earthworks Modelling: Create and detail earthworks cut and fill concepts.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Work with Water Companies, Local Authorities, and the EA to finalize drainage strategies and negotiate discharges from development sites.
- Highways Design: Handle non-major highways design, detailing, and negotiation of works (Section 38, Section 278).
- External Works Design: Detail and specify external works.
- Infrastructure Modelling: Use 3D modelling for earthworks, highways, and drainage.
- Site Level Design: Design site finished levels for both trafficked and pedestrian areas.
- Vehicle Path Analysis: Conduct vehicle swept path analysis.
- Drainage Design: Design and detail private and adoptable FW and SW drainage (Section 104, Section 185) including attenuation facilities, ponds, tanks, swales, and SUDS.
- Hydraulic Modelling: Perform drainage hydraulic modelling using Micro Drainage (Windes Package).
Experience Required:
- Strong background in site appraisals, drainage and highway infrastructure planning.
- Proficient in earthworks and 3D infrastructure modelling.
- Experience in liaising with stakeholders such as Water Companies and Local Authorities.
- Expertise in highway design and drainage systems, including private and adoptable drainage designs.
- Competence in using Micro Drainage (Windes Package) for hydraulic modelling.
