We currently offer an excellent opportunity for a Senior Casualty Underwriter in our London Treaty team.
Main Purpose of the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for risk assessment and underwriting in the Casualty sector, including Public and Product Liability, Employers Liability and Financial Lines. Reporting to the London Treaty Chief Underwriter, you will manage reinsurance business in accordance with underwriting authorities and client strategies.
Your job:
- Underwriting and accepting Casualty treaties, including premium calculation and deciding on terms and conditions in accordance with the underwriting guidelines, internal directives, targets and client strategies;
- Conducting negotiations and supporting in maintaining the relationship with clients and brokers;
- Servicing client accounts and tapping new business potential;
- Responsibility for the administration of the contracts assigned, including exposure monitoring and liability/accumulation assessment;
- Performing result and portfolio analysis and preparing line of business reports;
- Developing and implementing a strategy for the London Casualty Treaty book; participating in planning and controlling activities;
- Assuming special tasks, participating/supporting local and group-wide international working groups and projects; participating in reviews, training of staff; contributing to market events.
Your profile:
- University degree in an economic, scientific (mathematics/statistics) or law-related discipline;
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Casualty insurance and knowledge of reinsurance;
- Highly conversant with IT systems, proficiency with the relevant underwriting and rating tools/risk modelling;
- Great team-worker, business developer, negotiator and communicator;
- Strong entrepreneurial spirit, proactivity and ability to work under pressure and with a multitasking approach;
- The position will be based in London but availability to travel is required.
