Rate of Pay : £15.97 per hour

We are currently seeking two temporary Scientific Officers for an exciting opportunity based in Lisburn.

These roles will be primarily laboratory-based, with some fieldwork required.

Main Duties:

• Collect and process water samples for microbiological indicators.
• Become proficient in working within a UKAS accredited laboratory.
• Assist in the development of new methodologies for analysis.
• Collaborate with the wider team as required.
• Collate and manage historical data.
• Potential for occasional home-working (ad hoc basis only).

Desired Criteria:

• Previous experience in a microbiology laboratory, specifically processing environmental water samples.
• Environmental sampling experience, particularly in water-related areas.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• 4 GCE/GCSE ‘O’ Levels (grades A-C) in separate subjects, including English, Mathematics, and a science subject.
• A minimum of 1 year’s practical experience in a relevant field (academic, voluntary, or work-related).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Current NWSMP Level 1 qualification (National Water Safety Management Programme).
• GCE/GCSE O Levels (grades A-C) in English, Mathematics, and either Double Award Science or two science subjects (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Geography).
