Job Description:
The Regional Medical Director (RMD) is an integral member of the oncology clinical sciences group, who assists and extends Clinical Sciences across the oncology portfolio on assigned studies at the regional level.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Site engagement and training including regular touchpoints with sites and presenting at PSVs, SIVs, and retraining as needed.
- Addressing recruitment issues through site identification and ongoing oversight of patient recruitment.
- Answering questions from sites, including medical/clinical inquiries and coordinating responses with the Medical Director.
- Assisting with eligibility assessments and urgent eligibility questions prior to randomization.
- Helping with query closure and ensuring all necessary information for medical queries is provided.
- Managing protocol deviations in collaboration with the CTL and retraining sites as necessary.
- Addressing retention issues and ensuring follow-up with patients lost to follow-up.
- Ensuring missing assessments are chased and obtained in collaboration with the CRA/CTL.
- Providing laboratory reference ranges for local laboratory data in collaboration with the CRA.
- Discussing any potential quality issues with sites and escalating to the global medical director if unresolved.
- Attending CSTs and maintaining weekly communication with the medical director.
- Providing clinical assistance and feedback on PI interest in proposed studies at the local level.
Qualifications and Experience:
- MD required
- 8+ years of industry clinical development experience.
- Expertise in clinical trials and clinical development.
- Strong understanding of the oncology clinical research landscape and implementation of oncology clinical trials.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with internal stakeholders and study investigators.
- Ability to work well in cross-functional and geographically diverse teams.
- Excellent oral presentation and communication skills.
- Critical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Cross-cultural awareness and fluency in the local language of primary country assignment in addition to English.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel up to 65%, including local, regional, and international travel.
- Valid driver’s license.
