We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced and self-motivated individual to manage the Middleton Quarry in Middleton-in-Teesdale. This role will report into the Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the safe and efficient management and operation of the busy quarries in line with the Quarries Regulations 1999, covering the production of high PSV and sand & gravel aggregates. You will demonstrate a sound knowledge of crushing and screening using static plant, maintenance activities on both fixed and mobile plant, experience in blasting, and can effectively plan and organise quarrying operations.
You will be responsible for implementing planned preventative maintenance schemes, monitoring and reducing energy consumption, ensuring continuous improvement of quarry operations, and safely managing teams of Breedon staff & contractors.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Ideally, you will hold a QCF level 6 (equivalent NVQ level 4/5) in Health, Safety & Environmental management within the extractives industry; possess good leadership skills to promote positive teamwork; and communicate effectively with other functions within the business. You will have experience of holding a regulation 8.1 appointment in previous roles, as well as proof of competencies relating to that appointment.
To be successful, you must be comfortable with a hands-on role to drive forward our health and safety culture as well as being focused on the needs of our customers.
