In this role you’ll be:
Leading our internal Quality Assurance team and managing external partners providing Quality Assurance resource to deliver a product that meets the quality requirements for release to consumers on PC and console.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in game development quality assurance processes, with a proven track record of managing QA teams, delivering games to market that meet consumer quality requirements, passing console compliance processes, improving testing methodologies, and handling external testing resources.
A typical day will look like:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the internal QA team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement comprehensive QA strategies, plans, and processes tailored to console and PC game development.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure seamless integration of QA processes throughout the development lifecycle.
- Define, track, and report on key QA metrics and performance indicators to ensure high-quality game releases.
- Oversee and manage the creation and execution of test plans, test cases, and test scripts for functional, performance, regression, and usability testing.
- Identify, document, and track defects and issues, ensuring timely resolution and communication to relevant stakeholders.
- Allocate resources effectively to ensure timely delivery of QA milestones within project timelines and budgets.
- Manage external companies providing testing resources to ensure they meet the company’s quality standards and project needs.
Requirements
Background and skills that would best suit this position:
- Significant experience in quality assurance within the gaming industry and a demonstrable amount of time in a leadership role.
- Extensive experience with console and PC game development and testing.
- Experience of overseeing Localisation and Compat Testing for multiple languages including European, South American and Asian languages.
- Proficiency in QA tools and platforms, including bug tracking, test management, and automation systems.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with certification processes for console platforms (e.g., PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo).
- Knowledge of compliance and submission requirements for major game distribution platforms (e.g., Steam, Epic Games Store).
