Project Controls Manager - Defence

Job Description

The South West team has strong positions in Defence, with significant growth in this sector. We are seeking Project Controls professionals looking for new opportunities.

We seek passionate individuals with a positive outlook, development ambitions, and a strong foundation in technical understanding and experience within defence or other highly regulated industries.

Key Deliverables

1. Deliver Project Controls across infrastructure projects in the South West.
2. Lead the programme controls function, ensuring accuracy and consistency in plans, costs, safety, environment, and performance reporting.
3. Review new project proposals to develop realistic, resourceable plans.
4. Identify resourcing needs and liaise with planning teams.
5. Provide support to Programme and Project Managers on plans, costs, safety, environment, and performance.
6. Ensure data input quality in cost and performance systems.
7. Manage the production of the Investment Plan in compliance with the Investment Competence Framework.

Ideal candidates will have experience in multiple sectors across the project lifecycle, with expertise in disciplines such as Planning, Cost Estimation, Risk Management, etc., and proficiency in relevant software.

Strong communication and leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to influence, motivate, and develop teams in a diverse and inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• A degree in a relevant technical or management field or equivalent experience.
• Membership in a professional body (e.g., APM, PMI).
• Ability to make risk-based decisions under uncertainty.
• Proficiency in necessary software tools.
• Desire to work across various sectors and with diverse clients.

Security Clearance

Applicants must be SOLE UK Nationals eligible for UK MoD Security Clearance (SC). Details on security vetting are available on the UK government website.

Working Location

• Hybrid working model, with approximately 60% on-site/client site, flexible based on business needs.
