A long-established Yorkshire-based printer is looking for a hands-on production manager. This behind-the-scenes role will be responsible for scheduling, estimating, and production control rather than managing manufacturing on the shop floor. This is a key role, taking responsibility for the organisation and administration of the workflow between departments.

Main Responsibilities

  • Processing customer orders regarding the specification, production methods, artwork requirements, production scheduling, and pricing for future work and work in progress.
  • Creating detailed production information in the format and to the requirements of the production department.
  • Liaising with production staff throughout the entire process.
  • Liaising with Dispatch and suppliers to ensure delivery and collections of work, to and from the supplier.
  • Obtaining delivery information and instructions from the customer.
  • Liaising with Dispatch by providing a daily delivery requirement list for outwork and customer deliveries and maintaining ongoing daily contact.
  • Organising the production of mock-ups and obtaining samples as requested by the customer.

To meet the above requirements, the candidate should have good technical knowledge of print production processes. We are looking for an organised individual, able to quickly understand detailed instructions and communicate this information clearly, concisely, and unambiguously. They should be proactive and prepared to challenge, in an appropriate way, any information that does not appear to meet the customers’ requirements.
