Bringing it to the role.

The Food & Quality Team at KFC UKI are looking for a Product Developer to support our busy Senior Product Development Manager developing products for the KFC UKI Menu.

The Food & Quality Team at KFC are a fun, entrepreneurial team who have a critical role in making the KFC Brand modern and distinctive through our menu. Some highlights for the team over the last few years have been launching the first Vegan Burger into QSR (it sold out in days…) having our (KFC global award winning) Gravy Burger featured on a Channel 4 documentary and launching a Watermelon & Lime Southern Refresher beverage to allow us to remove full sugar Pepsi and wipe millions of calories from our menu. It’s an ideal time to now join the team and help craft our position on food for the future….

The role of Product Developer sits in the Food and Quality team within the Marketing function. This role is responsible for leading key NPD projects that both grow and protect our business. The role will report to a Senior Product Development Manager.

What you’ll do:

  1. Bring new product concepts to life, developing products that are scalable for launch into all 1000+ KFC restaurants across the UK and ROI
  2. Create market leading products and packaging that deliver against our business strategy and priorities
  3. Project management from brief to restaurant launch, collaborating with a full cross functional team in the process with opportunities to present your projects to our leadership team and franchisees
  4. Ownership of critical paths and deadlines
  5. Guardian of the taste and quality of our finished products
  6. Close partnership with operations to create optimum processes for our restaurant teams
  7. Partner with suppliers to develop the best tasting products on the market that hit our brand, nutrition and commercial guidelines
  8. Design and implement restaurant tests ahead of launch, monitoring success and optimising where necessary
  9. Your hands-on approach will help bring innovative ideas to life in our RSC kitchen, from ideation workshops to testing and evaluation
  10. Evaluation of your new products post launch to track performance and ensure that they are loved by our customers
  11. Champion the food culture across the business always inspiring with food news and trends
  12. Be a champion of the development process, driving momentum to ensure successful project delivery
  13. Constantly curious, seeking opportunities to improve our products and how they are prepared in restaurant
  14. Participate in ideation workshops with the Innovation team
  15. Share learnings and ideas with the KFC global food community
  16. Be a curious food expert, always keeping your knowledge fresh of the industry, trends and competitor ranges

Experience

  1. Minimum 4 years’ experience in a relevant product development role in food service, retail or manufacturing
  2. Degree in Food Science/ Technology/ related subject
  3. Strong influencing skills and confident communicator at all levels of the organisation
  4. Experience in Microsoft programmes such as PowerPoint & Excel and using specification and nutrition systems.
  5. Proven project management including product optimisation, research and product launch
  6. Experience leading different types of projects and working to changing priorities and tight timelines.
