Functional area: Procurement
As Project Procurement Manager UK for RWE OPEA’s growing Wind & PV and BESS pipeline within our OPEA Procurement team, you will be responsible for supporting and implementing the supplier country strategy for the UK market, aligned with the global strategy. In your role as Project Procurement Manager, you will act as the Procurement Single Point of Contact for Onshore Wind, Solar, and BESS projects, partnering with the overall Project Manager. You will oversee all procured packages – TSA, SMA, EPC, and/or BoP contracts – during development and construction phases, and lead the optimization of supply chain measures throughout the project lifecycle.
Your future responsibilities include:
- Negotiating large and complex project contracts (including TSA, SMA, EPC, and/or BoP contracts) for PV, BESS, and Wind projects in multidisciplinary, international teams
- Developing, implementing, and managing purchasing strategies for these contracts
- Supporting and executing the supplier country strategy for the UK market
- Enabling lessons learned to optimize tendering processes in line with local needs, collaborating with project stakeholders
- Developing and implementing framework agreements
- Managing active supplier relationships for PV & Wind Balance of Plant contracts
- Managing stakeholder relationships with development, construction, and service departments
- Coordinating with Global Category Procurement for PV modules, Wind Turbine Generators, and other support functions such as Finance, Risk, and Legal
- Assessing suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants, including audits and complaints management
- Exploring new, alternative, and advanced vendors
- Providing cost estimates for new photovoltaic plants and grid interconnection works
- Preparing and reviewing decision templates for management, including risk mitigation and cost-benefit analyses
Your profile:
- Several years of relevant experience in the PV & Wind industry, preferably within Europe and the UK
- Experience managing large, complex tenders for PV & Wind EPC contracts or related power plant, industry, or infrastructure projects (Capex/Opex)
- Ability to build rapport quickly and maintain key stakeholder relationships with suppliers
- Extensive experience in identifying and assessing contractual risks and developing risk management strategies
- Completed studies in engineering or business economics; legal qualifications are advantageous
- Proficiency in negotiating multiple contract packages, stakeholder management, and leading multidisciplinary teams
- Intercultural understanding and experience working with diverse cultures
- Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written)
- Willingness to travel and undertake temporary stays abroad to support international PV & Wind projects.
