Role Overview:
The role of the Procurement Engineer is to ensure that all project-specific parts, assemblies, and documents are available for production when required, allowing the scheduled manufacture of products on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
Specific Duties:
- Creation of detailed drawings of custom parts, suitable for manufacture.
- Source supplier quotes for custom-made parts, within timescale and budget for the project.
- Procurement of custom-made and project-specific parts, within timescale and budget.
- Creation of BOMs for special products.
- Creation of assembly drawings/work instructions for manufacture.
- Creation of custom manuals and other technical documents, where appropriate.
- Supplier liaison to ensure required parts are available when requested and communicate information on shortages/delays to production in a timely manner.
- Workshop liaison, working with Workshop Supervisor to assist in the planning and execution of production such that sales orders are fulfilled on time, to the right specification and quality.
- Maintenance of Drawings for continuous improvement of standard products.
- Occasional assembly, as required, to enable review of the design and manufacture of parts and subsequent improvement.
Skills & Attributes:
- SolidWorks knowledge and experience with the skills to work in 3D.
- Ability to produce accurate detailed drawings on time for suppliers to work to.
- Able to organise and prioritise workload within agreed timescales.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Machinery Standards, Directives, and CE marking.
- Strong and measurable communication with the workshop.
- Willingness and ability to work as part of a team.
- Working to company flow charts.
- Willingness to learn.
