Your opportunity

The Asset Servicing team sits within Portfolio Support, as part of the wider Investment Operations team. The team is responsible for providing proactive support to investment teams in relation to corporate actions, proxy voting and class actions. This is a broad role with a great opportunity to work in a small team and gain exposure to and become an expert in all three areas. This role is designed for individuals looking to build a foundation in corporate actions and asset management, offering an opportunity for growth and development within the company.

Corporate Actions

  • Assist with the global oversight of voluntary corporate action elections, ensuring all deadlines are met through supervising and prioritizing outstanding elections and escalating as appropriate with front office stakeholders.
  • Review mandatory corporate action events in the order management system (Charles River).
  • Partner with Portfolio Managers to review and implement standing instructions where possible.
  • Support internal stakeholders by providing corporate actions information for regulatory reporting and compliance purposes, working to tight deadlines.
  • Assist with the review of compliance alerts related to securities blocked for trading due to corporate actions and advise on availability for trading.

Class Actions

  • Support the filing process for applicable class actions in coordination with service providers and legal, assisting the team meet filing date deadline.
  • Support the oversight of meeting ballots using JHI’s proxy voting agent’s online portal.
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting of votes in accordance with JHI’s voting policy and reporting to internal stakeholders, primarily JHI’s Proxy Voting Committee & fund boards.
  • Support the management of proxy voting requirements in relation to transition activity and account launches coordinating with our third party administrators, proxy voting agent & custodians to confirm end to end set up.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with oversight of service providers quality and performance by reviewing KPIs, metrics and by carrying out regular SLA reviews to ensure adherence to contractual policies, procedures and controls.
  • Support the documentation of process flows, operational procedures and identification of efficiencies to mitigate risk.
  • Serve as a contact for enquiries in relation to asset servicing and aim to develop expertise in this area.
  • Establish strong working relationships with service providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in operations projects, showing support and adaptability to change, identify process enhancements and contribute to JHI’s change management priorities.
  • Assist with client due diligence questions.

Must have skills

  • Basic understanding of corporate action events and associated risks.
  • The ability to work as part of a team towards achieving team goals and objectives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to correspond across various functions such as fund managers, service providers, compliance, and legal.
  • Motivated and eager to learn about the business and the clients we support.
  • Organized, with an understanding of prioritization, able to work within tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, flexible and adaptable to a changing environment.
  • Analytical mindset, able to organize and review data to assist the business in decision making.

Nice to have skills

  • 0-3 years financial services/asset management experience.
  • Familiarity with corporate action and proxy voting platforms (e.g. XSP, eTRAN, ISS Communicator.) is a plus
  • Proficiency in Excel
