Job Summary
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Operations Director manages and directs all activities related to production operations and facility management across the UK and Isle of Man sites, either personally or through subordinate managers and their staff.
Major Accountabilities
- Responsible for monthly Sales, Inventory, and Operational Planning (SIOP) process, ensuring timely submission of forecast data to support month-end forecasting.
- Develops and maintains operational business plans covering program requirements, labor, cycle times, costs, and infrastructure.
- Owns and develops the production sales forecast monthly, identifying risks and opportunities to meet the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
- Maintains appropriate inventory levels to ensure delivery to customers and meet AOP, adhering to inventory accuracy metrics.
- Ensures all production deliveries are met through on-time execution of ERP schedules.
- Promotes a continuous improvement and lean mindset on the production floor, participating in lean events and Kaizens, aiming for Zero Defects.
- Analyzes ERP data to develop predictive trends and guides internal and external customers on production, future loads, and capacity planning.
- Coordinates manufacturing activities with other functions, contractors, and suppliers to optimize production and resource utilization.
- Drives operational culture to embed EHS policies.
- Develops strategies with Supply Chain to remove internal barriers and fulfill customer requirements.
- Develops 5-year Capex and investment plans supporting the AOP, identifying bottlenecks and mitigation options.
- Ensures detailed product routings are available for standard costing and other analyses.
- Works with Engineering to transition new products into full-rate production, integrating design for manufacturing in new product development.
- Maintains operational readiness, overseeing preventative maintenance and facility upkeep.
- Defines responsibilities for organizational and staff positions to achieve business objectives.
- Develops a thorough understanding of site product lines and manufacturing processes.
- Serves as the process owner for operational documents used in accreditations like AS9100, PART21G, and PART145.
Minimum Education Required: Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, or Aerospace).
Minimum Years of Experience: Ten years in a management role with strong shop floor operations, product flow, and data analytics background.
