cer Financial are working alongside an international bank based in the City of London. They are looking for an Operational Risk Manager to work with them on a contract basis.

The responsibilities of an Operational Risk Manager will include:

• Actively assist the Head of Operational Risk in the management and ongoing development of the ORM Framework and its policies.
• Actively assist the Head of Operational Risk in embedding operational risk principles by delivering firm-wide training and consultation/advice as needed.
• Coordinate with 1st Line of Defence/”Operational Risk Champions” on a regular basis to assess operational effectiveness and impact assessments as required across the Firm.
• Ongoing development and annual execution of the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) methodology, process and assessment tool.
• Providing oversight and challenge of the firm’s systems and controls in respect of risk management.
• Support and contribute to CM Ltd Risk Governance framework and processes (NPC, TAC, RMSC etc).
• Co-manage and produce information packs for Governance Committees.
• Manage, calculate and report the Firm’s monthly Operational Risk Appetite.
• When required, deputise for the Head of Operational Risk in delivering the prevailing picture of Operational Risk to the Governance Committees and address any challenge or questions arising.
• Assist and challenge Departments in Operational Risk loss event analysis and reporting.
• Enforce Operational Risk standards of action and risk event completion across the Firm through MI escalation and Senior staff engagement.
• Manage the completeness and integrity of KRI portfolio through thematic reviews and periodic testing.
• Manage monthly KPI and KRI assessments and subsequent escalation process.
• Work with external consultants on ad hoc projects (e.g. Data licensing capture).
• Assist in the Operational Risk input into the Prudential Regulatory processes and associated reporting (e.g. ICAAP, ICARA, ILAA, SWDP, etc.).
• Assist in the performance of annual Operational Risk stress scenarios, assessment processes and modelling (e.g. Pillar 2a, Harms Assessments).
• Where relevant, assist in the coaching and professional development of team members.
• Own and manage ad hoc initiatives to enhance Operational Risk Management effectiveness (e.g. remedial action designs, MI development and communication, et al).
• As part of the New Product and Process framework
• Coordinate the review of Business propositions by the Firm’s support teams.
• Assist in the drafting and delivery of MI and change requests to the New Product Committee.
• Register and track pre or post trade conditions/actions.
• Obtain and log evidence for conditions or actions closure.
• Own and manage the Firm’s Post Implementation Reviews and associated escalation.
• Where relevant to the role’s activities, own the alignment of current Operational Risk practices and protocols.
• Actively assisting in the implementation and oversight of Operational Risk across CM Ltd, its subsidiaries and remote booking entities.
• When required, deputising for the Head of Operational Risk and Chairing the Operational Risk Committee.
• Managing subordinate team members.

The successful Operational Risk Manager will have:

• Previous management experience is preferred.
• Operational Risk Management technical knowledge and experience required by this position.
• Knowledge and experience of capital markets business (especially Securities and Derivatives products along with relevant rules and customs).
• Knowledge and experience of ICAAP and Risk measurement methodologies.
• Control, due diligence or risk review qualifications preferred (e.g. ACA/ACCA or equivalent, FRM/PRM or relevant CISI certifications).
