Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for stamping, molding or assembly related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They are experts in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s) and advise plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements. They design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The Teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. They act as interface between engineering and production to ensure manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp up as well as support the research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.

Role and Responsibilities

  1. Provide hands on day to day manufacturing support through knowledge of Materials and Manufacturing methods.
  2. Delivery of Projects to support capacity increase, product sustaining, New Product Introduction, Migration or process improvements to drive site productivity.
  3. Collate and analyse data to provide solutions to Production and Technical problems, including justifications and payback calculations to support CAPITAL investment projects.
  4. Ensure all Process Controls including documentation, Machine Recipes, BOM & Routes, PFMEA and Specifications are in place and up to date.
  5. Ensure all process changes are controlled and appropriately documented according to business procedures, including Customer and Agency Notifications.
  6. Ensure customer complaints are answered and resolved with robust solutions within business time frames.
  7. Ensure all activities are carried out safely, safe working practices are maintained at all times, and any additional hazards correctly identified and reported in an expedient timeframe.
  8. Support the Technical, Planning and Production managers through regular communication of project plans, ideas and delivery.
  9. Lead and facilitate an improvement culture to achieve Continuous Improvement Targets.
  10. Address in process quality issues and non-conformances in production.
  11. Respond to requests from the Global sales team on non-standard product requests.
  12. Attend daily Operations meetings and assist in the resolution of day to day business issues.

What your background should look like:

  1. Extrusion or Wire and Cable Manufacturing Experience.
  2. Engineering Qualifications would be advantageous.
  3. Hands on practical experience working with Machinery and Processes.
  4. Experience working within a fast paced, high mix low volume Manufacturing Environment.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
  6. Confidence to make fast paced and information driven decisions.
  7. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  8. Flexibility to work on several projects and prioritise activities.
  9. Demonstrated understanding of Manufacturing IT and MS applications.
  10. Six Sigma and 8D qualified; Green belt level or above desirable but not essential.
  11. Enthusiastic, driven and self-motivated individual with a positive attitude towards driving change.
