Job Description:
Overview
Stax is a mid-sized global consulting firm with a presence in London, New York, Chicago, Boston, and Colombo, Sri Lanka. Stax recently announced a strategic investment by Blue Point Capital Partners which will fuel a new chapter of growth in key areas across the firm. To support our accelerated growth, Stax is growing our leadership team.
Stax is seeking experienced and self-driven leaders who are ready to enter the next phase of their career as a Managing Director with Stax. As a Managing Director, you’ll play a critical leadership role in growing the firm by expanding client relationships and adding new innovative solutions; creating value for our clients; leading multiple buy-side and sell-side commercial due diligence engagements; and being a firm leader and role model for the global team of consultants.
Life at Stax is unique – our goal is to empower and challenge employees, with a better work/life balance than industry benchmarks. You get more content, more client relationship building time, and more time to develop thoughtful solutions for our clients because of our business model and platform. No question: you’ll work hard like in any consulting firm, but Stax has several unique operational differences than firms in the sector, whether large, mid-sized, or boutique. Our teams benefit from our global skill-specific research and analysis teams (secondary, primary, deep analytics) which provide overnight support. Our efficient and focused approach has always been around content and action orientation, rather than 3-4-5 day on-site models, and long-stays at client sites. While the world has identified new ways of working in the last couple of years, Stax’s model was always far less travel than traditional consulting.
Stax’s success stems from our ability to quickly diagnose an issue, develop clear fact-based answers, and provide practical next steps. We tackle engagements by debating with facts and analysis. Our consultants are empowered to call it like they see it, rather than deliver answers they think clients want to hear. And this is why we have the client base of large and mid-cap private equity firms and their portfolio companies.
WHY STAX
- Relationships with large and mid-cap private equity firms globally, and the leadership teams of their portfolio companies.
- Our consultants get front-line exposure and leadership roles with our action-oriented, non-bureaucratic client base across sectors and project types and get immersive learning opportunities in a fast-paced environment.
- Content-focused environment which can nourish your analytically driven opinion.
- Managing Directors and project teams are supported by our unique business model with integrated international teams that deliver research, data, analysis, and overnight support to allow you more time to think.
- Strong belief by everyone in the future of Stax and commitment to deliver strong results and go above and beyond to help a fellow team member.
- Competitive compensation that rewards strong performance and solid career development through individualized mentorship and coaching opportunities. In addition, we offer comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your family, 401(k) savings plan with company contributions, 3 weeks of vacation, life and disability insurance, generous parental leave, pre-tax transit benefits, mobile phone stipend, wellness reimbursement, charitable gift matching, and more.
Responsibilities
- P&L responsibility and business planning for the growth of the firm globally
- Lead, generate and deliver Deal Advisory, M&A and Due Diligence engagements
- Lead and manage multiple buy-side and sell-side CDD engagements
- Lead on value creation for clients
- Ideate and generate proposals and other collateral, presenting to clients
- Contribute to professional articles or industry publications, writing white papers, and speaking at events and conferences
- Identify innovative service offerings relevant for target clients, for the continued growth of the firm
- Build an inclusive culture
Qualifications
- Proven advisor to PE deal teams and C-Suite level executives
- Recognized as the leading expert in the Deal Advisory, M&A and Due Diligence spaces

- Proven ability to liaise closely with and manage cross-office and global project teams
- Proven ability to manage, coach, and develop those below you from managers to associates
- Have a high degree of initiative; roll-up your sleeves-type person who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment
