At Clarus Education, we are working with an FE College who are seeking to appoint a FE History & Politics Lecturer based in Uxbridge, West London. The Sixth Form in West London is responsible primarily for the delivery of A Level, AS, GCSE and BTEC Science courses and is based at the Uxbridge site. The college has a track record of achieving strong results which places the Sixth Form in the top 10% of colleges nationally for A level progress. History and Politics were some of our best performing subjects in 2022 and 2023 with significant numbers achieving high grades. For all History and Politics qualifications offered, we follow the Pearson Edexcel specifications.

We are looking for a knowledgeable and dedicated lecturer of history and politics to continue the good work of the outgoing staff member. We would welcome applications from both experienced teachers or enthusiastic new entrants to the profession. You would teach on AS and A level History and Politics and GCSE History. You will possess a degree in History or Politics or a closely related subject and have teaching experience in the subject area up to A level, with a track record of excellent teaching and learning. You should have good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to engage and inspire young people aged 16-19.

If you do not already possess a teaching qualification, the College will support you to obtain the Level 5 teaching qualification.

Person Specification:

  • Minimum of a degree in History or Politics or in a closely related subject – essential
  • An advanced degree in History or Politics or in a closely related subject
  • An advanced level teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g. DET, PGCE) or willing to work towards a Level 5 teaching qualification, supported by the College
  • Experience of teaching A level History & Politics in a school or Further Education college environment
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent teaching and learning which evidences the raising and/or maintaining of student achievement and progress.
  • Evidence of delivering high rates of student attendance, retention and achievement, including details of the methods you have used to achieve this
  • The ability to engage and inspire vocational learners aged 16-19
