We are working in partnership with a respected specialist residential education provider in Yeovil that supports young people aged 16 - 25 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning disabilities and complex emotional or behavioural needs. This dynamic setting is committed to preparing students for adulthood by helping them develop independence, vocational skills and a sense of personal achievement.
As part of the continued growth and enrichment of their land-based and animal care curriculum, they are now seeking a motivated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a full time, year-round basis.
The Role:
- Support the delivery of land-based and animal care sessions
- Provide one-to-one and group support for students with varying needs and abilities
- Help care for animals on-site, including feeding, cleaning, administering basic medical support and maintaining enclosures
- Assist with weekend animal care duties on a rota basis (with adjusted weekday hours)
- Ensure students are fully engaged in learning and working towards accreditations
- Support off-site enrichment and educational activities
- Contribute to the preparation of learning materials and the upkeep of practical spaces
What We’re Looking For:
- A genuine interest in animal care and land-based education
- Must have previous experience working with young people in the UK, either in a professional or voluntary capacity
- A passion for supporting young people with additional needs
- Flexibility to work alternative weekends as part of your regular hours
- A positive, proactive attitude and strong team ethos
- Any previous experience in a care, SEND or animal care environment would be an advantage
- Desirable qualifications: Animal Husbandry, safeguarding or related
