Prospero Teaching is currently recruiting a dedicated Learning Support Assistant for a Primary SEN School located in Fareham, Hampshire. The school caters to children aged 7-11 with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN). As a Learning Support Assistant in this specialist setting, you will be part of a passionate team dedicated to enabling children to achieve their personal best in all environments. This will involve working with the teacher to plan and deliver activities and supporting pupils with routines, transitions, and behaviour management. This role will be well suited to persons who are passionate about supporting children and young people, with past experiences being advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the school’s needs on a day-to-day basis, providing assistance to students both onsite in lessons and offsite in various activities.
  • Contribute to the achievement of each student’s aims and objectives by completing and monitoring student assessments and participating in the implementation and delivery of Individual Education Plans.
  • Assist Teachers or Therapeutic Learning Practitioners in delivering outstanding learning opportunities.
  • Set a good example and offer suitable support and direction to students.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting the social, emotional, and academic development of students.
  • Collaborate effectively with other members of the multidisciplinary team, including therapists, educational psychologists, and social workers, to support the holistic needs of students.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance professional knowledge and skills.

Requirements:

  • Experience in Education/Working with Children & Young People (desired).
  • Up-to-date mandatory training in areas such as Safeguarding and Prevent Duty Awareness (all can be completed for free with Prospero).
  • Right to Work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate registered with online update service or willingness to process a new application.
  • Provide two professional care-related references.
  • Relevant Qualifications: GCSEs, NVQs, Degree or equivalent.
