At ALTEN UK, we are looking for a Senior Software Developer & Scrum Master to contribute to cutting-edge embedded software development for advanced opto-mechanical systems used in submarines. This is a rare opportunity to work hands-on with real-time embedded systems, leading agile processes while actively coding and integrating C++ solutions on PIC-based microprocessors.
Location: Glasgow (On Site Full time)
Security Clearance: Sole UK Nationals, with the ability to obtain SC Clearance.
Key Responsibilities:- Embedded C++ Development β Design, develop, and integrate real-time software for mission-critical defence systems.
- SCRUM Leadership β Act as Scrum Master (20% of the role), facilitating agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and continuous improvement.
- Software Integration β Work closely with hardware teams to integrate C++ applications onto PIC microprocessors.
- System Optimisation β Develop high-performance, reliable, and low-latency software for embedded platforms.
- Security & Compliance β Ensure software meets defence industry standards and secure coding practices.
- Problem Solving & Debugging β Apply a pragmatic, hands-on approach to diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues.
- 7+ years of experience in embedded software development with C++.
- Strong background in real-time embedded systems and low-level programming.
- Experience with PIC microcontrollers and hardware-software integration.
- Certified or proven experience as a SCRUM Master with an agile mindset.
- Defence or aerospace experience is highly desirable.
- SC Clearance eligibility β Must be a Sole UK National and able to obtain Security Clearance (SC).
- Bachelor's degree (Masterβs preferred) in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field OR equivalent experience in a relevant UK military/defence technical background.
