As part of our vision to have a skilled, diverse and caring workforce, Dorset HealthCare is working in partnership with The Prince’s Trust to support people getting into work, as part of this partnership, we are offering an employability service to support individuals between 16-30 years old with application writing, interview skills and other employment support.

We would welcome applications from newly qualified nurses, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists, and we provide a very comprehensive and fully supported Preceptorship Programme for newly qualified healthcare professionals.

You will be required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course and it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.

Professional Qualification and Professional Registration

Essential criteria

  1. Must be a registered mental health nurse.
  2. Must have professional UK registration (e.g., NMC).
  3. Educated to degree level or equivalent level of highly developed specialist knowledge and experience.
  4. Experience of Teaching and Assessing In Clinical Practice.

  1. Ability to communicate effectively at different levels of an organisation in both verbal and written form, for example with staff, patients, visitors or external organisations in the exchange of very highly complex, sensitive or contentious information, which will require the use of negotiating and/or persuasive skills.
  2. Evidence of skills in diplomacy, negotiation and influencing.
  3. Ability to evaluate care leading to improvement in quality standards and service improvement.
  4. Inquisitive and eager to learn.

Experience

Essential criteria

  1. Experience of working within the care sector, or demonstrate transferable experience.
  2. Able to demonstrate knowledge in clinical assessment, treatment and care for people’s mental health.
  3. Demonstrable knowledge of legislation relevant to area of practice.
  4. A robust understanding of the function of mental health rehabilitation.
  5. Evidence of proactive involvement in supervision.

Desirable criteria

  1. Previous experience of working in mental health service.
  2. Previous experience of working within the NHS.
