Position: Lead Civil Engineer
As a Lead Civil Engineer, you will provide engineering technical direction to discipline engineers in our water division projects. You will support design for various non-infrastructure schemes, ensuring all designs are fit for purpose and compliant with current legislation and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review drawings and models for quality, safety, and adherence to technical standards.
- Review project and construction site designs.
- Lead efficient project delivery, managing programme, budget, and risks.
- Ensure design quality and compliance with standards and regulations, providing technical expertise for interdisciplinary studies.
- Contribute to work winning through bid management, tendering, and proposal preparation.
- Manage resource planning and team management.
- Oversee quality through BIM360 workflow reviews.
- Promote sustainability and low-carbon designs.
- Ensure compliance with water industry and civil standards and regulations.
- Develop designer alerts for lessons learned.
- Seek innovative technologies and processes.
- Collaborate effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Support wider water business activities (e.g., HAZOP, ROV facilitation, peer reviews, incident response).
- Conduct site visits as needed.
- Mentor and develop team members.
- Provide technical guidance to engineers.
- Share lessons learned and technical updates with the team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive UK Water sector experience.
- Proven leadership and team inspiration skills.
- Strong client management and exceeding expectations.
- Collaborative team player.
- Experience in strategic project planning and execution.
- Skills in tender analysis, market conditions, and operations.
- Knowledge of communications and PR techniques.
- Ability to deliver professional presentations.
- Effective communication with government officials and clients.
- Chartered status preferred.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience demonstrating relevant knowledge.
- Practical civil design experience in water/wastewater industry.
Excellent presentation skills for client interactions, conferences, and promotional events.
Location:
Regional with offices in Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, and London.
