This position is office-based with a hybrid working policy in our European offices – Munich, Berlin, Madrid, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Dublin, and London .

As a Lead Engineer, you will be a key contributor in a mission-based team within the Personio Engineering organization, leading complex projects. All Lead Engineers are hands-on coders responsible for the team\’s technical strategy. You will also act as a multiplier, elevating your team\’s technical expertise or diving deep into complex challenges—your technical leadership is crucial!

Role Responsibilities: What you\’ll do

1. Take responsibility for delivering larger projects with high uncertainty and risk, applying pragmatic estimation, scoping, and planning.
2. Promote best practices to solve complex challenges by building reliable, performant, and elegant solutions.
3. Own the technical output and standards for the team, ensuring engineering and operational excellence.
4. Contribute to defining and executing the team\’s strategy, considering technical perspectives.
5. Provide effective feedback, share knowledge, and mentor team members to foster growth.
6. Drive team initiatives and support colleagues proactively.
7. Communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and leadership, tailored to the audience.

Role Requirements: What you need to succeed

1. Mastery of event-driven architectures, event-sourcing (Kafka preferred), and domain-driven design.
2. Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker and Kubernetes preferred) in a cloud environment (AWS preferred).
3. Proficiency in various testing strategies (testing pyramid).
4. Experience in developing technical strategy and translating it into actionable plans.
5. A proven track record of mentoring and coaching teammates to enhance their technical abilities.
6. Strong written and spoken communication skills.
