Job Description:

Stephenson Halliday , part of RSK Group , is looking for ambitious and driven Landscape Managers at various levels to join our growing team. These are full-time , permanent roles, but Stephenson Halliday would consider those seeking part-time opportunities. We offer exciting career opportunities in various locations, including in Stephenson Halliday / RSK Group offices in Hemel Hempstead, London, Tonbridge, Bristol, Bath, Exeter , although we will consider hybrid/remote working for the right candidates.

We are interested in applicants who have experience in ensuring that a variety of landscapes can be effectively managed and maintained over time. This includes assessing the characteristics, history, and potential of landscapes, preparing management plans and strategies, including biodiversity net gain, advising on designs and plans for developments, and providing management-based solutions to site issues, including the assessment, analysis, and resolution of practical landscape issues.

You will be joining a highly regarded and award-winning landscape planning, design, and management team that has an extensive and enviable track record of providing services to projects at all scales, from Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects to local-scale development.

We are able to draw on knowledge from Building with Nature Approved Assessors and qualified Green Flag Award judges to enhance green infrastructure and the built environment.

Key Responsibilities (all levels)

  • Conducting and coordinating open space/green infrastructure strategies, site assessments, and audits.
  • Advising on management and maintenance considerations in respect of designs and proposals.
  • Preparing and implementing landscape and ecological management plans, with knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain requirements.
  • Preparing and implementing invasive species management plans.
  • Preparing and implementing historic landscapes/estate management plans.
  • Advising on compliance with relevant policy, legislation, good practice, and relevant standards.

Key Responsibilities (Principal and Above)

  • Lead and Innovate: Take the professional lead in landscape management, guiding and mentoring staff through their professional development. Ensure the retention and growth of technical expertise within the team, fostering an environment of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Collaborate and Grow: Work closely with our Landscape Planning, Landscape Design, Town & Mineral Planning, and EIA leads to expand our portfolio in differing sectors across the UK. Build on our stellar reputation for high-quality Planning, EIA, and Landscape services. This role involves driving the growth of our project pipeline, nurturing client relationships, managing resources, and ensuring the delivery of top-tier work through collaboration across Stephenson Halliday and the broader RSK Group.
  • Inspire and Lead Technically: Provide technical leadership within your specialty, setting the standard for methodologies and approaches. Inspire your team by promoting excellence, encouraging rigorous review and innovation, and maintaining the highest quality standards.

Person Specification

  • Experience of landscape management consultancy and/or onsite implementation / landscape clerk of works across a range of project types such as open space, parks & gardens, historic landscapes & estates, and infrastructure projects (e.g., minerals, property, renewable energy, energy distribution & transmission, transport).
  • Driving License
  • Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute CMLI (preferred)
  • Post Graduate or Masters in a Landscape related course (preferred)
  • Availability to work away from home as required
