As a Junior Technical Artist at Entain’s In-House Studios, you will be responsible for both animating and integrating assets into the game engine, ensuring high-quality visuals and smooth performance. Working closely with Game Artists, Producers, and Developers, you will bring characters, UI, and game elements to life with rigging and animation techniques while optimising assets for gameplay. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical art skills in a fast-paced and creative environment. Proficiency in Spine is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and implement character animations, environment effects, and UI animations that enhance gameplay and user experience.
- Rig and animate characters and objects using techniques such as FK/IK, Track Blending, and deformation-based animation.
- Integrate assets into the game engine, ensuring animations and visuals function correctly within the game environment.
- Optimise animation and asset performance to maintain smooth gameplay while preserving artistic quality.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to animation performance and asset implementation, resolving problems efficiently.
- Collaborate with Game Artists, Producers, and Developers to ensure animations and assets meet creative and technical requirements.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and animation techniques to continuously improve game animations and workflows.
Qualifications
Essential Skills:
- 1+ years of experience in animation or technical art (or relevant academic projects/portfolio).
- Strong proficiency in Spine for rigging and animation.
- Basic understanding of game engines and asset integration.
- Solid grasp of animation principles, rigging, FK/IK, and Track Blending.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Proficiency in Photoshop for asset preparation.
Desired:
- Experience with software packages such as After Effects, 3DS Max, and ZBrush.
- Familiarity with scripting and automation to improve workflows.
- An interest in slot and video games, with an understanding of game design principles.
