Location: Brighton Office – Hybrid working.

Contract type: Full time employee, 37.5 hours per week on a shift pattern 6am – 11pm. Role will include some weekend on call cover.

Role

InCrowd is expanding its operational infrastructure support team. With new clients across Europe, Australasia and North America we are building a 24×7 support function for our core technologies, infrastructure data security requirements. The Junior Systems Administrator / DevOps role will principally be focussed on supporting the systems that are used by our Backend & Data Teams – this includes technologies like Greenplum DB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Snowplow, Kubernetes, Ceph Storage Clusters, Prefect Server and Dremio. This role is available on a full time (37.5 hours per week) permanent contract basis and your working pattern will include working flexible shifts between 6am and 11:30 pm and on-call rota with the rest of the team to cover weekends (daytime). Bank Holiday hours will be paid back as time off in lieu.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing & Maintaining our Dremio and Snowplow clusters
  • Maintaining and Administering systems on AWS and locally
  • Installing, configuring and maintaining software, hardware and networks
  • Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues
  • Ensuring the security and efficiency of IT infrastructure
  • Upgrade systems with new releases and models
  • Managing user accounts and access levels
  • Assisting Data Engineers in implementing processes and procedures for deploying code to Development, Staging and Production environments

Key Candidate Requirements:

  • Recent Computer Science Graduate or equivalent experience in the area of systems administration and IT support
  • Accuracy and Attention to detail
  • Time management and prioritisation ability
  • Communication and presentation skills
  • Skilled at analytical thinking and problem solving
  • A team player. Being part of the overall Systems and Infrastructure team sometimes means out of hours work might be required
  • Keen to learn!

Preferred Candidate Requirements:

  • Knowledge of AWS or other cloud hosting platforms
  • Experience in database installation, configuration or management, would be beneficial but not required.
  • Some experience in containerisation with Docker/ Kubernetes would be beneficial
  • A good background knowledge of sport would be very welcome but is not essential
