Junior Software Engineer, London

As a Junior Software Engineer, you will be part of a cross-functional team, developing software solutions that meet our clients’ needs. This role will provide you with opportunities to learn, grow your technical skills, and follow best engineering practices. You will work with Java and related frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, JUnit, Hibernate) while also having the chance to contribute to front-end development when needed. Collaboration, problem-solving, and continuous improvement will be key aspects of your role. Additionally, you will create clear and user-friendly documentation to support our clients.

Qualifications

1. Experience of working in a Scrum Team and an Agile environment.
2. Basic understanding of software engineering principles, including SOLID, with hands-on experience in Java.
3. Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles, with experience writing unit tests.
4. Some experience with SQL is required, and awareness of SQL stored procedures and indexes is preferred.
5. Awareness of DevOps principles and CI/CD tools (such as Jenkins, Ansible, Packer, or Docker) is desirable.
6. Understanding of the concept of containerisation and basic orchestration of applications is desirable.
7. Understanding of Apache Kafka and its role in distributed messaging systems for real-time data processing is desirable.
8. Financial Services or Capital Markets experience is preferred.
