If this sounds like an environment you would thrive in, we have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Process Engineer , in Preston, Lancashire, UK (Hybrid work arrangement of 2 to 3 days per week on-site). No relocation assistance available.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Production of Process drawings: Process Flow Diagrams and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams/Engineering Flow Diagrams.
  • Production of calculations including mass, energy and flow balances, pipe and equipment sizing utilizing MS Excel, MathCAD, Pipenet, Aspen Custom Modeler or other software as required.
  • Production of technical documents such as Basis of Design, Testing Strategies/Schedules, Method Statements etc.
  • Participation in design meetings and technical reviews and presentation of technical solutions.
  • Undertake Plant / Site Surveys.

Who You Are:

  • Must already be legally eligible to work in the UK (sponsoring program is not available).
  • Masters degree in Chemical Engineering required.
  • 0 – 4 years in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sector.
  • Chartered Engineer/incorporated or working towards and engaged on a programme of Continual Professional Development.
  • Working knowledge of standards, regulations, codes and directives and how they should be applied including (but not limited to) Pressure Equipment Regulations, COMAH, COSHH, DSEAR etc.
  • An appreciation and understanding of the Construction & Design Management Regulations.
  • Basic understanding of the process contribution to safety case development.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of CAE packages.
  • Experience using process-related IT systems including MathCAD, Pipenet and Aspen Custom Modeler considered ideal.

  • Communication and cooperation with the team and sub-contractors.
  • A natural aptitude for undertaking engineering calculations, analysis and problem solving.
  • An ability to find and propose solutions to internal / external clients.
  • Will acknowledge financial and time-based constraints and endeavor to work within clearly defined and agreed limits.
  • Will be expected to take responsibility for their own work and demonstrate a professional approach to the production of technical documentation.
