We are seeking a dynamic Interim Press Officer to generate media buzz around BookTrust, positioning us as the leading organization in children’s reading. The role involves delivering high-quality media coverage that promotes BookTrust’s key messages and enhances our profile positively.

Main Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Head of Communications & Campaigns in developing and executing BookTrust’s media strategy.
  • Creating, delivering, and evaluating media plans for campaigns, programs, and prizes.
  • Generating targeted stories and engaging with media outlets and journalists.
  • Developing creative hooks and campaign ideas to secure high-quality coverage.
  • Monitoring media for relevant conversations and opportunities.
  • Drafting comments, opinion pieces, and letters as appropriate.
  • Building expertise in consumer and parenting media.
  • Pitched stories and ideas to media contacts.
  • Gaining in-depth knowledge of BookTrust’s messages, research, and campaigns.
  • Collaborating with campaigns, digital, and marketing teams for integrated efforts.
  • Creating compelling content for newsletters in partnership with the Children’s Book and Fundraising teams.
  • Managing celebrity ambassadors and leveraging opportunities for engagement.
