Purpose: In your role as Information Architect, you will operate within the Enterprise Technology team, working closely with the Enterprise Architect. You will drive and support the delivery of information architecture and related design activity in support of key programmes, shaping and guiding such delivery in partnership with Solution and Information Architects. You will deliver an information architecture service that evolves the IT landscape across AQA education, developing information/data architecture capabilities and services. You will support effective architectural strategies within Enterprise Technology that promote proportionate solutions and engage with key internal stakeholders to align approaches. You will establish, lead on, and champion coherent corporate-wide information/data architecture models and standards, taking ownership of and resolving related issues. You will design, implement, guide, and support technology solutions to address business requirements, liaising between technology/business stakeholders. You will provide information architecture consultancy support to colleagues and stakeholders, delivering effective solutions that meet desired business outcomes. You will maintain and apply a high level of technology design knowledge in producing information architecture designs and demonstrate expertise across other architectural areas.
Landscape: The Enterprise Technology Division sits within the Corporate Services Division, enabling the centralized delivery of core corporate services. Enterprise Technology operates in close partnership with Assessment Technology and Programme Management. Architecture & Security consists of:
- Architecture (including Enterprise oversight)
- Security & Risk
- Security Operations
- Data Protection & Compliance
Due to the nature of the role, stakeholder engagement with colleagues/teams within other AQA UK locations may be required.
Key relationships:
- Key internal relationships: AQA Education and AQA Milton Keynes Enterprise Technology functions, AQA Assessment Technology architecture and development teams, AQA Education business functions
- Key external relationships: Third-party technology providers, Relevant third-party providers, Other teams within the AQA Group
Activities:
- Develop and lead in Information Architecture while supporting colleagues in Solution and Technology Architecture.
- Assist in developing and maintaining policies, procedures, guidance, and standards for the Enterprise Architecture management system.
- Support the Enterprise Architect in refreshing and implementing the AQA technology strategy.
- Contribute to the definition and verification of adherence to technical standards.
- Work with business stakeholders and Enterprise Technology colleagues to design and deliver architectural solutions.
- Undertake 'horizon scanning' to ensure AQA benefits from emerging technologies.
- Review technology roadmaps and systems life cycles.
- Review all systems solutions for compliance with IT strategy.
- Ensure architecture and standards are compliant with statutory and regulatory legislation.
- Develop and maintain a systems catalogue of all systems and their interdependencies.
- Guide Enterprise Technology and support team members through transformational activities.
- Drive professional development and facilitate cross-skilling.
- Ensure compliance with AQA policies and legislative requirements.
- Undertake other responsibilities as required.
