Housing Strategy Manager

As a Housing Strategy Manager, you will play a key role in shaping and executing strategic improvement initiatives. This position requires a strong analytical mindset, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Leading and supporting the delivery of critical housing projects.
  2. Producing and presenting high-quality reports in consultation with the Leadership Team.
  3. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategic projects and initiatives.
  4. Monitoring and evaluating the performance of strategic initiatives, making necessary adjustments.
  5. Providing strategic guidance and support to senior leadership.
  6. Preparing reports and presentations to communicate improvement, strategic plans, and progress.
  7. Staying informed about trends and best practices in housing strategy, development, and execution to facilitate decision-making, service transformation, and commissioning.
  8. Managing and advising on political processes, ensuring clarity and consistency in interactions with elected members and senior officers.
  9. Ensuring resources are in place for external inspections and acting as a key contact during these inspections to communicate progress and issues effectively.

Requirements:

  1. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to articulate information clearly.
  2. Proven experience in managing staff, including recruitment, development, and performance management.
  3. Knowledge of external inspection frameworks impacting Housing Services, with experience managing or supporting inspections.
  4. Experience working as part of cross-functional project teams, with a track record of delivering high-standard results.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills to establish positive relationships with staff at all levels, colleagues, elected members, and external organizations.
  6. Understanding of local authority governance, decision-making, scrutiny, and performance reporting against Council Plans.
  7. An enhanced DBS check dated within the last 12 months, or willingness to obtain one.
