About the Job

The IB is transforming its technology delivery through a new operating model: the Technology Playbook. The UX Design department is responsible for developing exceptional customer experiences across digital products, ensuring they meet business needs. The team advocates for user needs, enhances business processes, and leverages technology to improve user satisfaction. This department consolidates capabilities previously developed in various IB offices, standardizing responsibilities. The Head of UX leads all UX-related initiatives and department development.

Key Responsibilities

The core responsibilities of the UX Design department include:

  1. Understanding user behaviors and journeys via research, interviews, and usability testing.
  2. Analyzing business needs related to digital products and driving process improvements.
  3. Designing seamless, engaging digital journeys to foster loyalty and positive sentiment.
  4. Leading user advocacy, integrating user-centric principles, and iterating designs based on feedback.
  5. Monitoring industry trends and emerging technologies to stay ahead in user experience innovation.
  6. Promoting a user-centric culture through effective communication and collaboration.

The UX Design Department comprises two disciplines:

  • UX Designer: Creates intuitive digital experiences through research, wireframes, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Business Process and Customer Journey Mapping: Analyzes customer journeys, identifies pain points, and collaborates on process improvements.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Decision-making authority within the department, setting goals and strategies.
  • Providing and receiving guidance from the line manager.
  • Resolving complex departmental challenges, optimizing processes, and managing resources.

About You

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Extensive experience, including leadership roles.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse teams such as product managers, developers, educators, and administrators.
  • Experience managing product teams and departmental budgets.
  • Understanding of the K-12 education sector and market trends.
  • Knowledge of educational technology innovations.
  • Basic software development and Agile (Scrum) practices knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement ability.
  • Decision-making authority and leadership qualities, including conflict management and motivating teams.
