Job Description:
The Head of Engineering (Systems and Projects) will report to the Infrastructure Business Line Director and be responsible for Systems Engineering across the business, as well as for engineering project and product delivery within the business line.
Key responsibilities:
- Support business growth through leading engineering excellence, expanding our team and portfolio.
- Transform and develop the Systems Engineering function.
- Promote best practices in systems engineering organization-wide.
- Implement processes and governance for project delivery, including gate reviews and assurance.
- Develop strategic plans to embed systems engineering practices.
- Drive continuous improvement and leverage systems thinking.
- Manage engineering schedules and budgets aligned with project goals.
- Provide leadership to engineering teams and ensure effective communication and cross-functional integration.
- Establish change control processes considering cross-functional impacts.
- Embed planning discipline, resource allocation, and collaboration.
- Interface with customers on engineering matters and stay abreast of technological advancements.
- Lead product development to meet current and future customer needs.
- Manage costs and drive long-term financial growth through engineering initiatives.
- Support bid processes with lessons learned and cost considerations.
- Develop and implement the engineering strategy for the business line.
Candidate requirements:
- Experience as Head of or similar in a matrix organization.
- Proven leadership in high-performing engineering teams within manufacturing and systems engineering environments.
- Track record of improving quality, customer focus, and revenue via effective leadership.
- Experience in strategic decision-making and system governance.
- Data-driven with analytical skills.
- Knowledge of innovative engineering processes and digital technologies.
- Experience in defining and executing engineering strategies.
- Stakeholder and client partnership experience.
- Full lifecycle engineering experience, including mechanical and electrical design and development.
- Proven ability to lead teams, develop capabilities, and implement effective engineering practices (ISO15288 knowledge preferred).
- Understanding of financial management and management principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Insight into emerging engineering technologies.
