Interested in supporting excellence and innovation in science? Want to interact with the world’s leading scientists? Looking for your first job in Grants Management? We are seeking highly motivated candidates with excellent organisational and communication skills to join our Grants team. Responsibilities include managing the day-to-day administration of the Royal Society Grants schemes, acting as a point of contact for applicants, reviewers, and award holders, and developing relationships with grant-holders. Experience in research management or grant funding is desirable but not essential.
The postholder will:
- Manage application, selection, and awarding processes for research funding calls
- Act as a liaison for external researchers and administrators, providing advice and support
- Support improvements in grant-making and scheme development
Reports to: Programme Manager or Senior Manager, International / UK Grants
Location: Carlton House Terrace, London, SW1Y 5AG plus hybrid remote working
Pay Band: C
Contract: 6 months and 12 months – maternity cover. Applicants should specify preferred roles in their cover letter.

Responsibilities include:
- Managing relationships with applicants, panel members, and reviewers
- Conducting selection processes and supporting award decisions
- Monitoring grant progress and managing case work decisions
- Closing grants and reviewing final reports
- Supporting promotion and data management activities
- Contributing to continuous improvement and diversity initiatives
Key Knowledge and Skills Required
Education: Degree or equivalent essential. Knowledge of academic/research activities desirable.
Skills: Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills; attention to detail; experience in funding or grant-making desirable.
Self-management: Ability to work independently, produce results under pressure, and manage stress.
Working with others: Ability to collaborate, provide feedback, and communicate effectively at all levels.
Resource management: Efficient use of resources, contingency planning, and performance monitoring.
Critical thinking: Accurate analysis, problem-solving, and proactive approach to challenges.
Managing relationships: Effective delegation, monitoring, and stakeholder engagement.
